What does a Microsoft 365 consultant actually do?
Three things. First, audit the tenant you already have: what licences, what security posture, what state SharePoint and Teams are in, what’s missing. Second, deliver the projects that fix the gaps: migrations, hardening, structure work. Third, manage the tenant afterwards so it stays right as your business changes. Everyone talks about the first two. The third is where 90% of the value shows up over three years.
Can you migrate us from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?
Yes. We’ve done dozens of Workspace to M365 migrations for UK SMEs. Email, calendars, contacts, Drive content and shared drives all move. We plan once, cut over once (usually overnight), and staff walk in the next morning with the same content in the new tools. Zero email loss is the target and the standard.
Can you reduce our Microsoft 365 licence costs?
In most cases, yes. On tenants of 40 or more users we typically find 8 to 15% of licence spend that’s either unused, oversized, or the wrong SKU (Business Standard where Basic would do, E3 for people who barely use Word). The audit is the first thing we do and the report is yours to act on, with us or without.
Is Business Premium worth it for a UK SME?
For office staff at any professional-services firm (legal, accountancy, financial services, HR, insurance) yes. Business Premium includes the security stack (Defender, Intune, Conditional Access, sensitivity labels) that Cyber Essentials expects and that cyber insurers increasingly demand. Business Standard costs less but leaves you buying the security tooling separately at a higher combined cost.
Do you support SMEs outside Staffordshire?
Yes. Consultancy, migration and managed service work is delivered remotely as standard for UK-wide clients, with on-site visits when the project needs them (day-one hardware refresh, cutover weekends, senior-team workshops). Our on-site coverage from Lichfield is comfortable across the Midlands, but the Microsoft 365 work itself doesn’t care where you are.
Can you manage Microsoft 365 after the project?
Yes, and honestly, this is where the value compounds. Ongoing management covers user lifecycle, licence reviews, security posture, backup verification, incident response and quarterly roadmap. Fixed monthly per person. Most clients start with a project and move onto the managed service once they see how much the tenant needs continuous attention.
Can you help with Cyber Essentials?
Yes. Every Microsoft 365 hardening engagement is designed against Cyber Essentials controls so the evidence is in place for certification. We can also handle the certification submission directly through our accredited assessor partner.
Do we really need third-party Microsoft 365 backup?
Yes. Microsoft’s own service agreement is clear that they’re responsible for the service, not for your data restoration. Mailboxes, Teams chats, SharePoint sites and OneDrive are all within scope for third-party backup, and any of them can be lost to accidental deletion, ransomware or malicious action without a backup in place. Immutable, ransomware-resistant snapshots are cheap insurance.
